Wild Shots students exhibit at Everard Read Gallery.

It must be the only time that photos in clip frames have been seen at Everard Reed! Thanks to Duncan MacFadyen at E Oppenheimer & Son, our students’ work was exhibited at this prestigious gallery. E Oppenheimer & Son also sponsored 10 of our students to attend the opening event and see their work on display. This was an amazing experience for all concerned. In the title photo above are Mrs Oppenheimer and gallery owner Mark Read with Lerato, Melvy and Kutullo from NP Mathabela Secondary School.

Photo workshop at Vega School of Brand Leadership

Photo Workshop at Vega.

Vega School of Brand Leadership very kindly hosted our group for a session on studio photography. The workshop was made even more special because Sam Nzima (iconic Hector Pietersen photographer) was with us. We learnt about using flash in the studio and combining multiple poses on bulb setting. Thanks to Jana Santhilano and all at Vega for this opportunity.

Wild Shots Outreach students document an elephant collaring operation

Photo-journalists of the future.

WSEO’s partnership with Elephants Alive commenced with a residential weekend Wild Shots course culminating with our students documenting an elephant collaring exercise. The students from the Phalaborwa area captured the action as three elephants were darted and collared. A great experience for these youngsters from an area where elephants can sometimes come into conflict with communities. Thanks to Elephants Alive and Sefapane Lodges.

Wild Shots Wildlife Photography Conference 2016.

The conference is in Jo’burg on the 22nd Oct and Cape Town 29th Oct this year. In between the dazzling line up of star wildlife photographers I will be speaking about the outreach project. If you can join us please register online at http://wildshotsevent.com/register/. WSEO students from Phendulani School will be joining us in Jo’burg. If you have any unwanted camera gear to donate – please bring it along to one of the conferences.

Call for Cameras, Lenses and Memory Cards.

Much of our donated kit is over 10 years old and items do wear out. We are in need of cameras all the time and, in particular, we need Canon lenses and memory cards (both CF and SD cards no matter how small their capacity). If you can help then please get in touch – we can arrange shipping of kit through our contacts from almost anywhere! Even better – sign up for the Wild Shots events in Cape Town or Jo’burg and drop off your unwanted camera gear there. http://wildshotsevent.com/register/.
