Acraea horta (The Garden Acraea, male). A common Nymphalid butterfly found thoughout the Eastern coastal and higher areas whereever the foodplant Kiggaleria africana is found. The male is red while the female is darker khaki brown with black spots and hyaline wing tips. Flies throughout the year but more common in summer. Eggs laid in mass and larvae are gregarious.
