At The Point in Mossel Bay are rows of rocky reefs which form a natural tidal pool. For generations the towns children have learned to swim in this pool where chains and ropes have been secured across the pool to help swimmers when the surging tide causes strong currents which wash through the pool. Blougat (Blue Hole) lies at the upper end of the tidal pool and is a much deeper pool than the first, this giving its deep blue colour and thus its name.
