During the Anglo-Boer War that took place in South Africa from 1899 to 1902, the British forces built a large number of blockhouses or forts to protect their supply lines against the Boer commandos. They were mostly constructed along railway lines and bridges. This well kept blockhouse stand on a small hill or 'koppie' near the nothernly entrance to the town of Burgersdorp in South Africa.
