It is still dark as I drive up the Boesmanspoortberg Mountain. A low mist hangs over the rugged terrain. The road ends at a telecommunication tower high above the town of Willowmore in the Eastern Cape Karoo. My bakkie's ( pickup ) lights show a road strewn with small quartzite rocks.
