Low cloud above a replica 155 mm Long Tom cannon on Long Tom Pass recreates the smoke of artillery fire towards the Drakensberg mountain range in Mpumalanga province. The gun-howitzer was built by Schneider et Cie in Le Creusot, France, of which four were acquired by the Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek to guard the capital city of Pretoria, but were instead used as field guns in the field against the British forces, who nick-named it Long Tom.
