The rock strata of the Rooirante Hills dips into the waters of the Gamkapoort Dam that lies on the northern slopes of the Swartberg Mountains. This dam is fed by the Dwyka and Gamka Rivers that start in the Nuweveld Mountains some 150 kilometers north across the Koup Karoo. 33° ' South & 21° ' East.
