The photograph has been taken from, as near as possible, the same viewpoint as that used by Eugène Atget for a photograph taken in April 1900, published in "Paris, Eugène Atget", Taschen, Koln, 2000. Comparing the two it is clear that very little has changed as far as the buildings are concerned.
