Feeble and failing inhealth, he earnestly entreated the congregation to ac-cept the candidate whom he recommended, namely, , who became the pastor. His first visit tothe Hilltown Church was on the 4th of September, inthe year 1859. On the 12th of November, 1883, the four hun-dredth anniversary of Luthers birth was celebratedin the Hilltown Church. The Rev. G. A. Bruegel, ofCherryville, Pa., preached on the occasion. 76. ST. Reiff, Esq. The speakers were Rev. A. Spaeth, , of Phila-delphia; James H. Wolfe, Esq., a member ofthe Philadelphia bar, and a catechumen of thepastor; Dr. Samuel Wolfe, also a catechumen;Rev. O. P. Smith, from the Trappe, and R. Home, The singing was conductedby Rev. J. F. Ohl, of Quakertown, as organist,with his choral society consisting of 16 singers, andMiss Anna E.
