The Monument to the Great Fire of London, 1670-1675, designed by Robert Hooke and Christopher Wren. The 202- foot tall fluted Doric column stands close to Pudding Lane, where the Fire started. Plaque on west front of the base, showing King Charles II and James Duke of York coming to the aid of the burnt City of London. Carved by Caius Gabriel Cibber.
