Brown china mark (Elophila nymphaeata) moth head. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the head of a brown china mark, showing its compound eyes (dark, round), antennae (top) and proboscis (lower left). This moth is found throughout much of Europe and has a wingspan of around 16-20mm. Its larvae are unusual amongst moths as they are aquatic. Magnification: x30, when printed 10 cm wide.
