Wall and distant guard tower at the Joliet Correctional Center (also known as Illinois State Penitentiary and Joliet Prison). Joliet, Illinois, USA.

Wall and distant guard tower at the Joliet Correctional Center (originally known as Illinois State Penitentiary and Joliet Prison or Joliet Penitentiary) was built in 1858. Not to be confused with Stateville Correctional Pripon, not fat away, this facility was closed in 2002. Perhaps the location is most famous for its feature in the motion picture "The Blues Brothers" as the prison from which Jake Blues is released at the beginning of the movie.
