Orchid flowers (Dendrobium gracilicaule). This orchid is found in the tropics: eastern Australia and the island of New Caledonia. This specimen is from New Caledonia. It grows mainly in trees, so it is said to be epiphytic. There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
