Solar energy plant Marstal Aeroe Denmark The solar energy plant at Marstal covers 18365 M2 and is the world largest of it s kind The plant produce hot water for district heating and has 3 large receiver tanks total 15500 M3 and supply 30 of the city of Marstal district heating need The island has the goal to be 100 covered by renewable energy within a few years and has been appointed as one out of 100 EU supported communities dedicated for complete renewable energy supply The island of Aeroe has not only the world largest renewable solar energy plant but with a 3 7 M2 solar panels per inhabitants it also have the world record in solar energy supply relative to it s size Thus two other towns on the island have large solar energy plants which together with Marstal gives a total of some 26000 M2 solar panels Many windmills among others giant 2 mega watt mills provides power together with 3 bio pellets combustion plants
