A procession of famous examples of ancient wealth. Leading the procession is Pythius, holding in his hand a vine made of good and precious stones. Next, Lucullus, the wealthy Roman magistrate and glutton. He carries a banner with a chicken pie. Behind him Crassus, drinking from a cup. This is an allusion to his thirst for money and his death (suffocated in molten gold). Following Crassus are the dictator Sulla with a sword and lance, Croesus as a richly dressed king, and Midas with Midas ears under his crown. The print has a Latin caption and is part of a series with the subject of the misery
