Yellow Lichen (Xanthoria Parietina) on Tree Bark

The bark of this tree had a rich texture and this bright yellow and orange fungus. A shallow depth of field blurs a portion of the foreground and most of the background, adding interest to the composition of the image and an artistic feel to it. The high level of detail on the texture of the bark and the fungus stand out using this technique. This image looks like a volcanic, foreign terrain. Taken at Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
