Vintage Aveling and Porter steam road roller at Beamish museum of Northern Life


This engine was built in 1923, weighs 10 tons, and is named Luci. First bought by the Eddison Steam Rolling Company working mostly in the Durham area. It was the first powered vehicle to complete a run on the Ferryhill bypass in 1937. It was retired in 1958 and preserved in 1963. When pictured in 2007, it was owned by the Summerell family of Chester-le-Street.
