On the roof of the 1493 Renaissance Torre dell Orologio also known as St. Mark’s Clock Tower, or the Moors Clock Tower are a pair of bronze figures known as the ‘Moors’ which strike the bell every hour since the bell was cast in 1479. Below is the winged lion of Venice surrounded by a blue background of gold stars. The clock tower is on Plazza San Marco ( St. Mark's Square) in Venice in the Veneto region of northern Italy.
