If all had done so, however, prices might not be so good. Koses continue scarce and prices aver- age better than a week ago. During the last few weeks white roses fell as low as $8 on one or two days for short- stemmed stock, but they started the present week at $12. Everything in the way of roses is soon picked up. Carna- tions maintain last week's prices. Good flowers sell well at an average of $6, with fancies at $8. Violets are not abundant, but sweet peas of splendid quality are coming in more freely. There is a fair supply of both callas and lilies. Prices on both hold up well. A few Guernsey trumpet narcissi are coming in, but no Dutch stock is yet in flower. Paper Whites sell easily, like- wise freesias. Snapdragons appear only in small lots as yet. Of miscellaneous flowers noted there are forget-me-nots, wallflowers, calendulas, Iris tingitana and pansies. Cattleya Trianse is in fair supply. Cypri- pedium insigne is over but a variety of other cypripediums and other orchids are available. Flowering plants con- tinue scarce. Club Meeting. Installation night of the Gardeners' and Florists' Club attracted 250 mem- bers and ladies January 21 and the meeting was full of vim and enthusiasm, a happy augury for the new year. Ees- olutions on the death of Andrew Masson were adopted and the new members elected. Announcement was made of the big union meeting of various agri- cultural and horticultural interests to be held February 11 to 14 in Horticul- tural hall and it was reported that on the day set apart for the club W. H. Elliott would lecture and various mem- bers make fine displays of plants and cut flowers
