Carbon monoxide safety catalyst. Hands displaying a device invented at NASA's Langley Research Center, USA, to improve carbon monoxide safety. This deadly gas can kill is boilers are no maintained safely. This device uses a new class of low-temperature oxidation catalysts to convert carbon monoxide to non-toxic carbon dioxide at room temperature. It also removes formaldehyde from the air. The catalysts resulted from research on carbon dioxide lasers. Photographed in 2010.
