This shrub, which is native to southern Africa, can reach a size of 2 to 3 m in height and width. It has been cultivated to decorate gardens in Asia and Europe. The usually evergreen plant can lose leaves in colder climates. The coloration of the flowers varies in shades of orange to red and apricot. Few bird species use this plant as nesting habitat.
