Roman road map Battledykes - Hallforest / Muir of Lour. Forfar Scotland 1806

View of the Roman Military Way, between the camps of Battle Dykes & Haerfauds in the Muir of Lour. Artist/engraver/cartographer: Joan Jamieson delin 1785. Provenance: "Britannia: or, a chorographical description of the flourishing kingdoms of England, Scotland and Ireland, and the islands adjacent; from the earliest antiquity", by William Camden. Translated from the edition published by the author in MDCVII. Enlarged by the latest discoveries, by Richard Gough. London: printed by John Nichols, for T. Payne and Son, Castle-Street, St. Martin's and and J. Robinson, Pater-Noster Row MDCCLXXXIX. Type: Antique copperplate map. The orientation on the map is confusing and incorrect - the map is orientated toward NNW (the arrow pointing towards the bottom of the map is north, although the opposite pole is incorrectly indicated to be North). Forfar and Pitscandley are both clearly marked
