Scenic view of the Cordillera Mountains and Baguio City on Northern Luzon Island, Philippines. Baguio is called the "City of Pines" because of all the pine trees. You can see them in the foreground. The altitude keeps the temperature in the moderate 70s most of the year. Baguio is also called the "Summer Capital" as it serves as a retreat from the heat for affluent Filipinos and tourists. Mountains in the background display what is known as Rembrandt Blues, a succeeding recession of blue tones. Because of the cool weather and overbuilding, Baguio has become severly overpopulated and congested leading to a degradation of the environment and quality of living.
