NATURAL ORDER, MALVACE^ Hibiscus militaris, Cavanilles.—Smooth ; leaves thin, on long and slender petioles, serrate, slightly cordate, the lowerones roundish, three to five-lobed, the upper ovate-lanceolate, entire or somewhat hastate, with rounded lobes ; pedun-cles shorter than the petioles ; calyx inflated ; corolla tubular-campanulate, pale rose color with a red centre ; seedssilky.
