An old engraving of Richard Cobden known as the Apostle of Free Trade' (1804 – 1865) , English Radical Liberal politician He was a manufacturer, and a campaigner for free trade and peace. He was known for his association with the Anti-Corn Law League and the Cobden–Chevalier Treaty. He served as member of parliament at various times for Rochdale, West Riding of Yorkshire and Stockport
