Deep space: Orion Nebula (Messier M42) in constellation Orion
The Orion Nebula (also known as Messier 42, M42) is a diffuse nebula situated in the Milky Way in the constellation Orion. It is one of the brightest nebulae, visible to the naked eye in the night sky. It is the closest region of massive star formation to Earth (approximately 1340 light years away). Nebula is also known as Great Nebula in Orion or the Great Orion Nebula. On the left side of picture there is also Running Man nebula (NGC 1973). Picture taken with newton 600mm f/4 telescope and modified DSLR camera. Total exposure time: 2 hours. Horizontal image, no people, rights managed - exclusive.
