The remains of the old A3 road and now of one of the many walks in and around the Devil's Punch Bowl, Near Hindhead, Surrey.
The Devil's Punch Bowl as it is known due to its geological formation is a natural amphitheatre. It was the main arterial route between London and Portsmouth (the old A3) and was notorious for many accidents as well as heavy congestion. In 2011 the Hindhead Tunnel was built, making the Devil's Punch Bowl redundant. The area has become a nature reserve as well as a local beauty spot where visitors can enjoy the numerous walks in and around it. This is thanks to the National Trust who own and maintain the land.
