An early 20th century French advertising poster from World War One, 1914-1918, showing General Ferdinand Foch (1851-1929) overseeing his troops as they march across the battlefield. Foch was appointed commander in chief of the Allied armies in 1918. The artist is Georges Goursat, known as Sem, a French caricaturist (1863-1934)
