The Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games was held in a temporary stadium at Horse Guards Parade. It hosted track and field events including sprints, hurdles and high jump. The unique event will attract the best Olympic and Paralympic athletes in the world including: Team GB’s Jonnie Peacock, Pole vault world record holder Renaud Lavillenie, Olympic hurdles champion and world record holder Aries Merritt and 2008 Olympic Champion Blanka Vlasic. Races were also held in the Mall, where people watched for free,with the likes of six-time Paralympic champion David Weir in action. Bernard Kipchirchir Lagat (born 12 December 1974) is a Kenyan-American middle and long distance champion athlete. Lagat was born in Kapsabet, Kenya. Prior to his change of domicile to the USA, Lagat had an extensive competitive career representing his native country. He is the American record holder in the 1500m and Mile indoors, as well as the 1500m, 3000m, and 5000m outdoors, and is the Kenyan record holder at 1500m outdoors. The Kenyan record is the second best 1500m of all time. Lagat is a thirteen time medalist in World Championships and Olympics including five gold medals
