Sir Richard Owen KCB FRS (1804-1892) was an English biologist, comparative anatomist, paleontologist and outspoken critic of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection. Owen coined the term dinosauria, from which we derive the word dinosaur. (Photo: 1860)
