Glazunov fell out of favor with the Communist Party when he refused to remove ‘Mystery of the Twentieth Century’ from a Ministry of Culture exhibit in the Soviet Union. Glazunov is also known for his illustrations of the writings of Feodor Dostoyevsky. In 1987 Glazunov founded the All-Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Moscow.
