The phone box in the village of Compton has been decorated with a large green astroturf belt in protest at Guildford Borough Council's decision to adopt the Local Plan. The Local Plan was formally adopted on Thursday, April 25, 2019, and could deliver thousands of new homes to meet a housing crisis. A number of villages and sites, including Wisley Airfield, will be taken out of the green belt in order to meet the need. Other villages, including Compton, will potentially be subject to 'limited infilling' both inside and outside the identified settlement boundaries.
