An Egyptian Female figure Shabti from the 18th Dynasty in the collection at Chiddingstone Castle near Tunbridge Wells Kent. Shabti (also called ushabti or shawabti) are model figures that were placed in burials from the Middle Kingdom, between about 4000 and 3500 years ago. They were supposed to act as servants to the dead.
