A white female Goldenrod Crab Spider (Misumena vatia) hiding amongst the flower heads of a mature Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) pounces on its prey.

On a piece of waste ground near the village of Rowhedge, Colchester, Essex, England, a stealthy white female Goldenrod Crab Spider (Misumena vatia), despite its colour, hid amongst the flower heads of a mature Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) awaiting its prey. This was supposed to be just a shot of the herb and visiting bees. As an unsuspecting bee landed the hidden spider pounced. It turned out to be a lucky shot of a successful hunt for the spider, although not a lucky day for the hapless young bee.
