Galeacius, however, nowretained his constancy of mind, and en-treated the executioner to put fire to thewood that was to burn him. This, atlength, he did, and Galeacius was soonconsumed in the flames. Soon after this gentlemans death, agreat number of protestants were put todeath in various parts of Italy, on accountof their faith, giving a sure proof of theirsincerity in their martyrdoms :— Resigning freely transitory breath,To shun the shades of everlasting THE PERSECUTIONS IN CALABRIA.
