The Ichneumonidae are a parasitoid wasp family within the order Hymenoptera. Unlike other parasites, parasitoids kill their hosts like larvae and pupae of Coleoptera (beetles) and Hymenoptera (wasps and relatives). As seen they also feed on the Caterpillars of Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies).
