The goddess Leucothea, as Ino, takes pity on Odysseus, who has been shipwrecked by Poseidon and clings to ship timbers.

The goddess Leucothea, in the form of Ino, takes pity on Odysseus, who has been shipwrecked by Poseidon, the god of the sea, and is clinging to boat timbers. She gives him a veil, which will ensure that he will not drown or encounter any harm. She then counsels him to lose his cloak and the wood to which he is clinging and let the waves bring him to the shores of Ithaca.
