James Watt, Scottish engineer, (1833). Watt's (1736-1819) improvements to the steam engine were fundamental to the changes wrought by the Industrial Revolution. He perfected the working of steam engines, inventing new parts to stop the waste of steam and fuel. (Colorised black and white print).
