Fort Brockhurst, Gunners Way, Gosport, Hampshire, 2000. Fort Brockhurst is one of a series of forts built in the 1860s to defend the area around the major naval bases of Gosport and Portsmouth, Hampshire. It was designed to take heavy artillery, with a wide moat and 'caponiers' at the angles of the fort for self defence.
