He is at present in charge of the installation ofseveral miles of this system, for hauling and shuntingfreight trains in the yards and shops of the new factoriesof the Westinghouse Company, at East Pittsburg, and heis designing this system for substituting electric locomo-tives for steam on the standard railways. Boston West End Companys Annual Report. The report of the West End Street Railway Company, ofBoston, for the year ending September 30 last, has justbeen made public. The company now controls 274 milesof tracks, and of this total about 10 miles were added dur-ing the year. There are 248 miles of track completelyequipped for electric traction, and 9 miles are partiallyequipped. The overhead feeder lines have a total lengthof 261 miles, and 23
