Angelo Fairfax 'Mike' Muckley (1859–1920) was the son of the more famous artist William Jabez Muckley and was a cousin of Louis, a note book illustrator. He was known as Mike, a pun on his name and Michelangelo, and also worked as an artist illustrating many published works. Late in life he married Beatrice Buckland on 3 June 1909 in Wraysbury. They had first met in around 1894 when Mike taught her painting. Their relationship was frowned upon by Beatrice's parents due to the 17 year age difference. It was 14 years later that they met again and, with her parent's permission, decided to get married. Mike served in the First World War. His death notice in The Times reported that Captain Angelo Fairfax Muckley, late 1/5th the Buffs, died on 26 May 1920 at Frame Farmhouse, Benenden, Kent, from illness incurred during his military service. He had no children. His work and that of family members is highly valued today. Several Pre-Raphaelite examples of what are generally given as Louis Fairfax Muckley's work, but which by some have been attributed to his cousin Angelo Fairfax Muckley, have been auctioned recently.
