Christ Church Spitalfields Organ by Richard Bridge

Christ Church Spitalfields, in the East End of London. One of the 'Fifty New Churches' or 'Queen Anne Churches'. Built by Nicholas Hawksmoor 1714-29. The organ by Richard Bridge reinsated and restored in 2015. Bridge was the leading organ-maker of his day, and his organ, the largest in the country when installed in 1735, is a rare survivor from the time of Handel. The High Church connections of Christ Church are represented by the crown over the central tower, flanked by bishops’ mitres on the outer towers. The pipes are held by delicate fretwork bands of pale painted limewood, contrasting with the dark mahogany of the rest of the case.
