Microscopy of a spinal cord sample from a mouse model of neurodegeneration. The following fluorescent stains are used: DAPI is blue, TDP-43 is green, and GFAP is red. Researchers from the Developmental Neurodegeneration Unit at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) are using these models to study the early events that underlie the onset and progression of neurodegenerative diseases, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Parkinson's disease.
