Superior Township, Michigan - State police guard Governor Rick Snyder's gated community as about a thousand people rallied outside the gates to protest Michigan's emergency financial manager law. The law allows Snyder to give complete control of a financially-troubled city or school district to an emergency manager, replacing elected officials. Protesters say the law has been used almost exclusively against predominately African-American communities.
