Mexican Poppies, Eschscholzia californica, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Arizona

Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is known for its vibrant and diverse wildflowers, which bloom in the spring and early summer months. The monument's desert landscape is home to a wide variety of wildflowers, including lupines, desert marigolds, penstemons, globemallows, and, of course, the iconic organ pipe cactus. One of the most spectacular displays of wildflowers occurs in years when there has been enough winter and spring rainfall to trigger a super bloom, during which the desert floor is covered in a colorful carpet of wildflowers. This rare event is a sight to behold and draws visitors from around the world to witness the beauty of the desert in full bloom.
