Gladiator Helmets
This illustration showing three gladiator helmets is based on gladiator helmets found in Pompeii, an Italian town that was destroyed when Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79. The helmets are so light that they must have been intended for use in procession rather than as a protection in fighting. They differ from soldiers' helmets in having wide brims and visors.
