Purple Crest Aeonium or Black Tree Aeonium, Aeonium arboreum var atropurpureum f nigrum Schwarzkopf. The Tree Aeonium is a succulent subtropical plant of the genus Aeonium and family Crassulaceae. Aeonium is a group of about 35 species of small to medium sized subtropical succulents in the family Crassulaceae, native to parts of northern Africa and nearby islands including the Canary Islands Cape Verde Islands and Madeira. A arboreum is a Moroccan species that was probably used to develop many of the most commonly available garden ornamental types.
