Tropical dry forest. Although in the tropics in warm conditions with high annual rainfall, these forests have long dry seasons. The green-barked emergent tree is Ceiba trichastandra. The bark of this tree is photosynthetic, which avoids water loss through leaves. Some of these trees also have swollen trunks, another adaptation to avoid water loss. Photographed in Ecuador.
