Dingy footman moth


Dingy footman moth (Eilema griseola). The flight period of this moth is usually July and August. It occurs in gardens, damp woodland and fens and is found across Europe and as far as south-east Asia. The larvae feed on a variety of lichens. There are two forms and this is the yellowish (f. straminola) form. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in July.
