The parent wood stork stands protectively over its young nestlings before a feeding session.

An intimate peek into the nest of a Wood stork, Mycteria americana. This nest is situated in a pond apple tree island and made of a platform of twigs. Green leaves curl attractively around the nest sheltering the baby birds. This family has three chicks and the parent birds are never far from them. This is early in a feeding sequence before the parent begins to regurgitate the fish in its throat. Cute little guys with bills already getting oversized for their small bodies.
